application
A control platform that could grow with the product
Triple Solar’s PVT system combines rooftop panels with an indoor heat pump. The panels generate electricity and collect heat for the heat pump, removing the need for a conventional outdoor fan unit.
Zign Group developed the electronics and embedded software for Triple Solar’s PVT heat pump, supported system certification and prepared the control boards for production. The partnership extends beyond product development, as Zign coordinates ongoing PCBA supply for Triple Solar and supports the transition of its cable assemblies into series production.
challenge
Connecting the system, with room to evolve

The control platform needed to connect multiple sensors, actuators and heating-system interfaces.
Integrating these functions required careful consideration of how electronics and software work together, as well as electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and safety requirements.
The design also needed to accommodate future changes and be suitable for series production with consistent quality.

approach
Developing electronics and software with production in mind
The control platform brings together custom electronics and embedded Linux built using Yocto. A hardware abstraction layer written in Rust makes the hardware interfaces available to Triple Solar’s engineers, allowing them to develop and adjust their own heat pump control software on the foundation Zign created.
Testing key design choices early
Zign first evaluated whether embedded Linux was a suitable foundation for the control platform before designing the custom electronics. This helped the team align the hardware design with the software requirements from the start, reducing the risk of changes later in development. A proof of concept allowed the team to test the proposed architecture with sensors and actuators. This helped Zign check key design choices before moving ahead with the production design. The platform uses modular input-output boards, allowing it to accommodate changes in connections and interface requirements.
Developing and testing the system together
As the platform took shape, Zign developed and tested the hardware and software together, checking how new interfaces and functions worked within the system. Alongside this development work, Zign supported the heat pump’s EMC, safety and cybersecurity certification.
Preparing for series production
Preparing the design for series production also meant providing a way to program and test the control boards during manufacturing. Zign developed dedicated test equipment for this purpose and designed the cable assemblies that connect the components. Zign’s ISO 9001-certified quality management system provides the framework for managing quality across this work.
result
From development to ongoing supply
Zign’s role extends beyond development to ongoing control-board supply and support for bringing Triple Solar’s cable assemblies into series production.
By connecting the engineering work with production and supply, Zign keeps knowledge of the design available throughout the collaboration. This gives Triple Solar continuity from product development through series production and ongoing delivery.
